Designers @ belleEtik
The designers we partner with either work for themselves and make their clothing using fabrics which are friendly to the environment - including Deborah Lindquist (Los Angeles) and Sophie Rieu (Ireland) or have established partnerships with cooperatives and projects making high quality clothing to European designs, using organic & fairly traded fabrics. At the moments we work with cooperatives in Cambodia, weaving and making silk bags for La Vie Devant Soie and in India producing organic and fair trade labelled cottons where women make the tops and dresses for Les Fees de Bengale (France) and Numanu (India) and Fable Clothing (Ireland). At belleEtik we feel privileged to the first in Ireland to offer these labels and feel in our way we are helping to mainstream the concept that fashion can be produced ethically. Other shops such as Marks and Spencers have been offering Fairtrade labelled Tshirts, jeans and socks since 2006. Some high street shops have started to offer Tshirts and jeans in organic cotton. We are the first to do high end fashion, using high quality materials at affordable prices. While not cheap we do offer value for money and garments which should last many years. Ethical fashion is a small but growing area and at belleEtik we feel lucky to be entering and building the market in its niche and look forward to great changes in the coming years.
